Dear Valuable Customers…

The entire staff at Peterson’s sincerely hopes you and your family had a wonderful holiday season and your New Year is filled with promise!

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, a time to spend quietly relaxing with the one you love. We know and understand the difficultly of this economy and that everyone needs to watch their spending. That is why Peterson’s is the perfect place to treat your special someone to a romantic night out. Our Valentine's Menu will allow you to share large portions… lowering your cost, but never sacrificing quality.

Remember Valentine’s Day is the only time reserved to show those special to us that we love and care enough to spend it with them. Instead of giving jewelry, chocolates, or flowers… give the best gift of all, time together. Sharing a candlelight dinner, at one of the finest restaurants around, is truly a special way of saying “I love you”. Please make your reservations with us today.

On March 30th, we will be celebrating ten years of business since our opening in 1999. As you are aware, it is difficult for independent restaurants to last. We owe our success to your loyalty and our great staff! Because you have selected Peterson’s as your favorite dining destination and have supported us with your continued patronage, we are still going strong while competing with the large chain restaurants, and increased costs.

To thank you, on Monday, March 30th, during our anniversary celebration, we would like to invite our Elite Club members, along with all of our valued customers, to celebrate with us. Your food that evening will be discounted by 20%, and special desserts will be provided at no charge.

Jeff's Journal

Peterson’s would like to thank our customers for celebrating the holidays with us. We appreciate, and look forward to, your continued patronage in 2009.

We have many great things planned for this year, including wine dinners, new menu items, and fantastic specials. The food at the upcoming February Wine Dinner will be memorable as always. Please watch our website and email greetings for details on all of our upcoming events.

Our dinner menu will be changing with the season around the first of April, when we will see Spring flowers and new dining features. Our signature steaks and seafood will, of course, continue along with favorite desserts and some new ones too… forgetting your diet for a day will be well worth it!

A couple of items to note: Valentine’s reservations fill up fast so don’t delay, reserve your table for February 13th or 14th today! Also, please don’t forget I am available to cook for you in your home… just contact Jackie Carpenter for more information.

As you have heard, Peterson’s will be celebrating our ten-year anniversary with a wonderful celebration on March 30th. Without you during these last ten years, we could have closed our doors like so many other independents. Thank you for your support, we will continue to provide you with the superior food and service that you expect and deserve.

Featured Wine

Tinto Pesquera – Ribera del Duero, Spain

Our newest featured wine is Tinto Pesquera, from the region of Ribera del Duero, located in Northern Spain half-way between Madrid and the Atlantic Ocean. The region’s namesake is the Duero River, pronounced DWAY-roh. Known as the “Father of Rivers”, it is famous for its full-bodied, deeply colored, and flavorful red wines.

The original bodega (winery) of Tinto Pesquera was founded in 1972 by Alejandro Fernandez. He is a living icon of modern Spanish wine and was one of the first in his country to return to biodynamic, low yield viticulture in order to produce concentrated oak-aged red wines capable of extended bottle aging.

Currently under vine are 500 acres, almost exclusively Tempranillo, in a range of soil types including a locally-rare gravel deposit. Following development of new wine estates in the 1990's, current vintages are of unprecedented quality. Mr. Fernandez, also known as the “Master of Tempranillo”, is now at the peak of his career.

The wine itself is 100% Tempranillo, exhibiting tones of coffee and licorice against a rich core of plum and blackberry fruit. Plenty of tannins create a chewy texture and good acidity keeps it lively in the mouth. This is a great wine for winter foods! Enjoy an affordably priced bottle at Peterson’s for only $65.

A Message from the General Manager

Wow, what an exciting whirl-wind these first two months have been for me at Peterson’s. I would like to thank the Peterson family, staff, and particularly the guests for making my transition so smooth. The warm welcome was unexpected, but greatly appreciated. I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and that you are looking forward to a happy new year.

Please plan to join us for our first 2009 Wine Dinner on February 19th. The theme will be Icons of Napa Valley, featuring wines from small but renowned wineries. Our menu will be especially created by Chef Jeff Heaviland. This will be an evening that wine and food lovers should not miss. Please watch our events section of Peterson's website and your email inbox for details on our wine dinners, our ten-year anniversary celebration, and all other upcoming events. If you have ideas for future events to showcase, please contact me.

Thanks again for your warm welcome. I truly enjoy serving you and hope you will come and enjoy our Valentine’s Menu on Febuary 13th or 14th!

Proudly Awarded

Indianapolis Monthly Magazine recently awarded us with two distinct honors, naming us a 2008 Best Restaurant and a 2008 Best Bar Menu winner. The magazine raved with praise, including comments such as "... this elegant Northside restaurant (usually billed as a steakhouse, though it is so much more) takes the steak-and-potato crowd on a wild ride, enticing them to try foie gras and lobster tarts or meaty Belon oysters glistening in their half-shells, and never once making a person feel out of their league if, say, black truffle oil has never crossed their lips." The bar menu was described as "... the perfect loosened-tie version of executive chef Jeff Heaviland’s fine-dining lineup".
